Advancing Earthquake Resilience Through Strong-Motion Science
COSMOS unites scientists, engineers, government agencies, and industry
leaders to advance earthquake hazard assessment and risk reduction through instrumentation, simulations, and global collaboration.
Who We Are:
The Consortium of Organizations for Strong-Motion Observation Systems (COSMOS) is a 501(c)(3) membership organization founded in 1997. We bring together programs and institutions from around the world to:
Improve strong-motion measurements and their applications.
Solve shared challenges in instrumentation, data quality, and dissemination.
Foster knowledge exchange across the earthquake science & engineering community.
Our members include scientists, engineers, utility operators, academic institutions, private companies, and government agencies, all committed to advancing earthquake safety and resilience.
