COSMOS Technical Session and Annual Meeting – November 14-15, 2024 (Hybrid)

Location: Degenkolb Engineers Office Building, 601 12th Street, Second Floor | Oakland, California 94607

COSMOS provides a forum for seismologists and seismic engineers to come together and discuss issues related to the use of earth science data (including earthquake recordings) by the engineering community. We invite you to help COSMOS bring together the global earthquake community. Our vision is to elevate the standard of practice for seismic hazard assessment and risk reduction through stimulating discussions and information exchange. Please join us in November in-person or virtually as we work toward realizing our vision!

The REF TEK journey began when it was founded by Paul Passmore in 1975 as Refraction Technology Inc. to produce quality, niche seismic monitoring products for the land, marine and oil exploration markets. In 2012, the REF TEK brand was acquired by Trimble Navigation. In 2020, it returned to its engineering/customer service roots when it was purchased by Reftek Systems Inc. The REF TEK team encompasses decades of experience in designing and supporting seismic monitoring systems for every part of the world and every environmental challenge. Each one of them brings engineering insight, in the field practicality and commitment to customer success. www.reftek.com

PARTNERS & COOPERATIVE EFFORTS

The Center for Engineering Strong Motion Data (CESMD) is a cooperative center established by the US Geological Survey (USGS) and the California Geological Survey (CGS) to integrate earthquake strong-motion data from the CGS California Strong Motion Instrumentation Program, the USGS National Strong Motion Project, and the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS). The CESMD provides raw and processed strong-motion data for earthquake engineering applications. Click here for more information about the Center.
